## 7. CHILDREN & ADULT SUPERVISION

**The Little Library That Could** is a family reading room. It does not provide childcare.

Children under 18 must remain with a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult throughout their visit. **Children may not be dropped off or left unattended.**

The accompanying adult is responsible for supervising the children in their care, helping them follow the [Reading Room Rules](https://www.oseyad.org/en-us/reading-room-rules?hsLang=en-us), treating books and shared materials appropriately, respecting others, and leaving together at the end of the visit.

We encourage adults to help children learn that being part of a shared reading community comes with responsibility for themselves, other people, books, and the space.

## 8. READING ROOM CONDUCT & CARE

**The Little Library That Could** is a shared community space. Everyone is expected to help keep it welcoming, comfortable, and respectful.

Children should be encouraged to participate in caring for the books and shared space in age-appropriate ways.

## 9. APPOINTMENTS, CANCELLATIONS & COMMUNICATION

Reading room appointments are limited.

Please arrive on time and leave at the end of your scheduled appointment so the space is available for the next family. **Arriving late does not extend your appointment.** If you cannot attend, please cancel as early as possible so another family can use the appointment. If you are running late or something changes, please let us know.

**Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, or significant lateness may result in temporary restrictions on booking privileges.** These policies help keep our limited appointments available and fair for everyone.

**Communication is important.** If circumstances make it difficult to attend an appointment or follow a program policy, please contact us.

## 10. BORROWING & RENEWING BOOKS

Book borrowing is available only to Book Club Members in good standing. Each child may borrow up to 4 books for 4 weeks.

Books may be eligible for one additional four-week renewal period, provided that the member is in good standing, another reader has not placed a hold on the book, and the renewal is approved by the OSEYAD team. **All book renewals are at the discretion of the OSEYAD team and are not automatic or guaranteed.**

Members are responsible for keeping track of borrowed books, caring for them, and returning them by their due dates unless a renewal has been approved.

Borrowing and renewal privileges belong to the member family and may not be used to borrow books on behalf of non-member families.

OSEYAD may limit or pause borrowing or renewal privileges when books are overdue, program policies are not followed, or a member is not in good standing.

## 11. OVERDUE BOOKS

Books need to circulate so everyone in our community has an opportunity to enjoy them. OSEYAD may send reminders when books become due or overdue.

If books remain overdue after reminders, borrowing and renewal privileges may be reduced or temporarily paused. Continued or repeated overdue borrowing may result in borrowing privileges being temporarily paused.

**Communication is important. If you are having difficulty returning a book, please contact us so we know what is happening.**

## 12. LOST OR DAMAGED BOOKS

Books are meant to be read and enjoyed. Normal wear from appropriate reading is expected.

Families are expected to take reasonable care of borrowed books.

If a book is lost or significantly damaged, please let us know. Please do not attempt to repair a damaged book yourself. Return the damaged book so we can determine whether it can be repaired. Please also do not purchase a replacement copy unless we ask you to do so, as editions and collection needs may differ.

OSEYAD will determine the appropriate next step based on the book and the circumstances.

Teachers, group leaders, and accompanying adults remain responsible for supervising the children in their group throughout the visit.

Additional rules or capacity limits may apply.

## 16. SAFETY & SERIOUS CONDUCT

The everyday expectations for behavior in the reading room are set out in the [Reading Room Rules](https://oseyad.simplybook.me/v2/) and Section 8 above.

Serious or repeated violations may result in temporary restriction or suspension of participation in **The Little Library That Could** program.

Any decision will be considered in light of the circumstances and the need to protect children, families, volunteers, team members, and the reading community.

## 17. PHOTOGRAPHY & RECORDING

OSEYAD may occasionally photograph or record programs, events, or activities.

Where consent is required, it will be requested separately and handled in accordance with applicable Turkish law and OSEYAD's Privacy & KVKK practices.

## 18. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Visitors are responsible for their personal belongings.

Bags, shoes, and other belongings should be stored in the lockers provided while using the reading room.

Please remember to collect all belongings before leaving.

OSEYAD cannot accept responsibility for belongings that are lost, misplaced, damaged, or left behind, except to the extent responsibility cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

## 19. BOOK DONATIONS

OSEYAD welcomes offers of suitable books for the collection. Please contact us before bringing books to the reading room.

Book donation offers may be reviewed based on collection needs, condition, age and reading level, language, content, and available space.

Submitting a donation offer does not mean OSEYAD is able to accept the books. Please wait for confirmation before bringing donations to the reading room.

Once a donation has been accepted and ownership transferred to OSEYAD, OSEYAD may determine how the donated materials can best support its purposes and collection needs, subject to any expressly agreed restrictions.

## 20. VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are an important part of OSEYAD's work. Submitting a volunteer application does not guarantee a volunteer position.

Volunteer opportunities depend on OSEYAD's current needs, availability, suitability, and the nature of the work involved.

Volunteers are expected to follow OSEYAD policies and maintain appropriate, reliable, and respectful conduct when interacting with children, families, other volunteers, and the community.

OSEYAD may determine whether a volunteer placement should begin, continue, change, or end.

## 21. PRIVACY & PERSONAL DATA

OSEYAD processes personal data in accordance with applicable Turkish law, including Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).

Personal data may be processed as necessary to administer visits, program membership, borrowing, activities, communications, volunteer applications, donations, and other OSEYAD services.

Please see our [Privacy & KVKK Notice](https://www.oseyad.org/en-us/privacy-notice?hsLang=en-us) and [Cookie Policy](https://www.oseyad.org/en-us/cookie-policy?hsLang=en-us) for further information about how personal data is processed and your rights.

Where explicit consent is required for a particular processing activity, it will be requested separately.

Agreement to these Terms & Conditions does not replace any explicit consent required under applicable data-protection law.

## 22. WEBSITE & THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

OSEYAD may use third-party services to support functions such as appointment scheduling, website services, communications, and the online book catalog. Use of those services may also be subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices. OSEYAD tries to keep information on its website accurate and current, but schedules, programs, availability, policies, and services may change. Current booking information and direct communications from OSEYAD should be followed where they differ from older website information.

## 23. CHANGES TO PROGRAMS & SERVICES

OSEYAD may change reading room hours, appointment availability, borrowing rules, program schedules, membership benefits, or other operational arrangements when reasonably necessary.

Program membership, membership renewal, membership type, borrowing and book renewal privileges, and access to particular program benefits remain subject to eligibility, good standing, applicable program rules, and the discretion of the OSEYAD team.

Material changes affecting existing program members will be communicated where appropriate.

## 24. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

OSEYAD may update these Terms & Conditions when its programs, services, policies, or legal obligations change.

The current version will be published on the website with the date of the most recent update.
